More info

I offer 2, 3 and 4 day courses in stone carving for people with all levels of experience, especially beginners. If you are thinking of trying this out for the first time, don't worry about not being able to do it. Soft limestone is easy to carve - an 80 year old lady from Mexico was one of my pupils, and she had more trouble understanding what I said than managing the work! See below for some student testimonials.

Student testimonials

My experience as an artist and teacher of art has always been about building an image; layering paint or adding clay.
It was a completely new experience to work on a piece of limestone and have to consider my design from the 'outside-in'.

Steve was a brilliant teacher, always keeping an eye on us, but giving us the confidence to work independently....
Two brilliant days - thank you so much!

Emma Delpech, Gresham's School, Norfolk

'Really impressed with what could be achieved in such a short amount of time.. found it incredibly satisfying and theraputic.'
Stephen was a really good teacher.
Not to overbearing but happy to help and guide...'

Ester Malloy, London.

Thought it was a great because it was so flexible and you could go with a set idea or, as I did, make it up as you go along...
I´d thoroughly recommend it and would say to people not to be put off by the thought that stone is a tough medium to work with...'

Robin Thomas, Cirencester.
